She knows that now he'll be tired, ready to sleep after working all night, so for now, she doesn't move away or do anything other than snuggle closer, dragging just the sheet up and over them.
"Nightshift has perks when I'm off the next day," she murmurs once she can breathe.
He keeps his arm wrapped around her, pressing his face in close so his chin is against her shoulder. In response to what she's said, he just mumbles something and grunts, a clear sign he's already falling asleep.
"I love you." Juliet pulls his hand up to kiss the back of his hand and lays there until she knows he's out for the count. Then, she gets up just to clean herself up a little before curling back into bed, facing him now. She tucks herself right into his arms, snuggling close and falling back asleep.
She didn't go to bed until after a shower at about three in the morning, so she's out deeply, right with him.
James wakes up first, and when he sees Juliet still sleeping, he smiles tenderly as he strokes her hair back from her eyes. Kissing her softly, he keeps a protective hold on her. She needs the rest, so he doesn't want to move, just wants to enjoy this as long as he can.
"You know what? Not this time," she says, pulling back enough to see his eyes.
"This time I was laying with my head in your lap while you were reading out loud," she tells him with a soft smile, stroking his cheek. "Not a bad dream at all, if I say so myself. Who wouldn't want to listen to you talk?" she asks even as her head dips to kiss him softly.
"I'm clearly the only person with taste on this island," she says with a laugh, kissing him over and over again.
They spend all day together, but they both work the next day, though she sneakily asks off about an hour early. In that hour, she drives a van home, does a few things inside the house, then drives to the security station, hoping to catch him coming out as she sits, van idling.
When she sees him, she calls out of the window.
"Wanna go for a ride?"
She's grinning, proud of herself for the surprise she has planned.
Juliet leans over to kiss him, humming against his mouth. She still has a streak of grease across her cheek that she missed in her brief stint in the house, but that's common.
She starts driving; everyone knows about the best spots in the North Valley, but Juliet's been on this island three years. She knows the best spots. Heading out to the cliffs on the east side of the island, she backs the van up carefully, handling it expertly as she backs it up, then parks and grins at him innocently before hopping out.
Opening the back doors, there's a blanket laid out, a few pillows, a cooler of beer, and sandwiches with chips.
"Push the tape in the cassette player," she requests, ready to go with music, too.
Then, she unzips her jumpsuit, stepping out of it, in cotton shorts and a tanktop underneath.
He loves watching her like this, completely in her element, so damn happy and vibrant because it's them together. He does as she asks, then goes to her, wiping that streak of grease off her cheek before leaning in to kiss her again. One hand moves to cup her ass as he pulls her closer.
"Never been trusted by anyone before you either," he tells her huskily, stealing a kiss as she works to unzip him. "Did I ever thank you? For stickin' around?"
"Yes," she says quietly with a soft smile, getting his jumpsuit down enough that all he'll need to do is toe off his boots and step out of it.
She crawls into the back of the van, sitting propped up against the back of the seats behind them. All that stretches out over the cliff is the sunset over the ocean.
"You thanked me pretty well at that lagoon, if my memory's correct."
"I am pretty good at that," he smirks proudly, kicking off his boots now and letting the jumpsuit fall to the ground. In just his boxers and an undershirt, he crawls into the van with her, shoulder to shoulder.
"Wanna fool around a little and then eat?" Those sandwiches look damn good, and he remembers how amazing that last one was.
She laughs softly, then nods. "Yeah. Because I have a surprise for you after we eat," she tells him coyly before pulling him into a kiss, laughing against his lips.
"I won't even try gettin' you to spoil it," he smirks a little. He kisses her deeper, tugging her into his lap and pushing her shorts off and running his hands over her thighs.
"I can slow it on down if you want, baby," he teases her, but he reaches out to lift her shirt off as well, cupping a hand to her breast and moving his thumb across her nipple.
She grins and strokes him slowly, watching his face.
"I guess this means you want me," she teases lightly, then she just decides to move, settling herself between his thighs and kissing the tip of him before he can say much about it.
Has she done this before? No. But damn if he doesn't inspire her to try.

He won't ask what she has planned, too excited to be surprised. But he gets in the van, leaning in to kiss her.

"I think you asked me to trust you, and I did. And it was the best decision I've ever made."
Juliet has no reason to trust anyone, ever. Not after that trust was taken advantage of in a horrific way. But she trusts James with her life.
